BAKE SALE POSTERS
As always, we are giving away points for the making of posters. Here’s what we need on the poster:
- Make sure the words “Bake Sale” is large and visible
- The date and time (October 26th, Wednesday, Lunch Hour/Noon/Whatever implies that) is visible
- Harry Potter Club needs to be mentioned, or at least implied through doodles, whatever
- Make the posters big and attractive. The better the poster, the more points you receive
PLEASE BRING IN YOUR CREATED POSTERS TO THE TUESDAY MEETING. DO NOT FORGET OR ELSE YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE POINTS UNLESS OTHER ARRANGEMENTS ARE PRE-DISCUSSED WITH THE CO-FOUNDERS.
To have a bake sale, we need change. Make sure you bring in some change and bills on the day of the bake sale. Tens, fives, toonies, loonies, quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies are all accepted. Proportions of these amounts is common sense.
We will have a sheet on that day. Show us the amount you are depositing into the moneybox and sign the amount donated beside your name. After the bake sale, the money will be returned to you.
ROLES AT THE BAKE SALE
Obviously, you don’t have to be at the bake sale. In fact, we really don’t need twenty of you showing up and crowding the table. However, we do need some people to fill important positions.
THE SETUP – The bake sale needs to be up and running by the time the lunch bell rings because we don’t want the rush to all escape to the mall before we have a chance to get everything laid out. If you have a spare or some unimportant class which you can get out of fifteen minutes early by saying you have to set up for the club bake sale, please help us out. I have Advanced History that day, and a test and there is a good chance that I would not finish before the bell. (I’m leaning on our younger grades for this!) Please let us know ASAP if you can perform this task: this includes setting out tables, prepping the moneybox, unpackaging and laying out food in an organized manner, setting out the price labels, etc.
THE MONEY HANDLER – You can’t handle the food if you’re touching money. I will probably do this but I might need some help. This includes taking in money, finding change, and everything associated with money. They will need to be familiar with item prices.
FOOD HANDLERS – We need several people to don gloves and pass out the food. I mean, I’m kind of expecting people to just take it themselves but maybe it’s out of their reach. Also, food handlers are in charge of telling the money people what the person ordered so the correct amount can be accounted for.
CROWD DRAWER/EXPLAINER – An optional role reserved for someone willing to wear a costume or hold the boombox and hoist a poster next to the table. This is partly for attracting the crowd but also for answering questions, such as if a price label disappears and someone asks for the price of an item or for people asking questions about the club.
WEDNESDAY, DON’T FORGET!
We would love it if you brought more food, or came up with more varieties to bring to the bake sale. Meanwhile, get working on those posters. If enough are received, we will award the best one with TEN POINTS. We’re looking for big, bright and nothing TOO Harry-Potter related. I mean, we don’t want to scare anyone away. (So no movie pictures or anything of the sort. Vague lightning bolts are okay.)
Our meeting is on Tuesday. We will be making price labels and working on last minute details. I am really excited for our first fundraiser ever because it means that we’re going somewhere as a club. It will hopefully expand to something larger, such as the establishment of a quidditch league. See you Tuesday!
