The Biggest Announcement Yet

I hope these fantastic stills have caught your eye and the current members of the HPC are reading this post thoroughly.

There is to be a VERY IMPORTANT meeting at the usual time and place tomorrow. Your points will see fruition. That is all I will say on the subject. If you do not want all of your hard work to count for nothing, then please attend the meeting tomorrow where the secret will be finally revealed.

See you then.

Big Change

Something crazy is going to happen soon. Be warned.

Hey guys. In an effort to increase club/member communication, the HPC has established an Edmodo group.

For those of you who have an Edmodo account through school, the group code is: l2of5b.

If you are not on Edmodo, don’t worry because everything we post on Edmodo will be the exact same as the stuff we post on the blog.

However, if member interest is great enough, we may use the calendar feature on Edmodo and plan club meetings weeks and events weeks in advance for you.

See you on Wednesday!

Okay, guys. I’m really getting tired of scheduling/cancelling/rescheduling meetings and we need to have at least one meeting before winter break, so this post is dedicated to picking the next HPC meeting date.

All club members should be checking this website regularly, and if they don’t remember to check the website regularly, they should subscribe so they will be forced to remember.

The date of the meeting will be announced by the end of the week.

For those of you who do check the website often and who regularly show up to meetings and read your chapters and such, just know that you are outstanding (O). The rest of you are on the naughty list. If you are actually reading this post right now, please send us an e-mail with the word “tuna” as the subject and we will give you five points if we receive the e-mail before Thursday night. Also, please feel free to check the forum and post on it. You will be rewarded. Candy may also be given out at the next meeting as a holiday treat, however any and all of you should feel free to bring in food, as we haven’t had a special treat to share for many, many meetings. I think deep down that that is the source of our current misfortune. Feel free to read to the end of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets now. Any questions/discussion points you have should be taken note of to bring up at the next meeting if you feel so inclined.

Make sure to get your Fan Art in for a prize (which at this point is guaranteed).

One last thing; I think you guys need to see this: . Yes, it is a safe link. It’s DanRad performing a song from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Please don’t take away this video as the most important thing you’ll remember from this post. That would make me really, really sad (but not because it’s a bad performance – I actually really liked it).

Fan Art Contest

Hey guys!

Please remember that there is an HPC meeting tomorrow and that if you are participating in the fan art contest, you should bring in your pieces then.

If you can’t make it with your piece to this meeting, try to show up to the soonest (can I say that?) meeting available. We may hold off judging our pieces tomorrow depending on the number of submissions, however we will still greatly appreciate seeing them then.

[Sorry. This whole post is so awkwardly worded.]

Alright. It’s time.

To have your membership updated and verified for the continuance of the school year, please send us an e-mail stating: your NAME, the LUNCH HOURS YOU ARE BUSY, and any OTHER THOUGHTS you wish to relay.

By doing so, you are eligible to earn yourself one point for telling us which lunch hours you are busy (this will really benefit you in the future – it will help us plan meeting times), and up to two points for your comments, depending on how thoughtful etc. they are. Anything you say will be taken under advisement/consideration.

By the end of the day, I hope to have another post out with this week’s meeting times stated. If Friday is a mostly free day, it is very likely we will have a meeting then, as that is when the Fan Art Contest draws to a close.

Speaking of the Fan Art Contest, we (so far) have received ZERO submissions. Just so you know.

Okay. Get to it.

Fan Art Contest

As many of you know by now, we will be holding a Fan Art Contest.

I’m sure you all know what fan art is (it’s self-explanatory) so I will announce the categories of submission for the event. They are: TRADITIONAL/VISUAL ART (of any media), and OTHER (comprising FANFICTION, MUSIC, VIDEO/FILM, MISC. FAN PIECES, ETC.). Just be creative.

Each person has a maximum of two a eligible submissions and an infinite number of fun pieces which will not be judged. If there are not enough submissions, we will merge all of the categories together. If there are too many submissions, we may make additional categories.

For each submission category, there are two judging categories: DICTATOR’S CHOICE, and PEOPLE’S CHOICE. If you win Dictator’s Choice, you will earn yourself several points, whereas if you win People’s Choice, you will earn yourself a prize.

You do not have to participate in the event, but you will/may earn points and prizes if you do.

The deadline for all submissions is FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2011, so get started.

[NOTE: If you are writing a fanfiction piece, please see this post: Also, feel free to browse around DeviantArt if you run out of ideas – but be prepared to lose a lot of time here. It’s a great place to procrastinate.]

You can submit pieces to us by e-mail (which we will then post to the blog), by link (from your website of sorts), by photograph, or by physical copy at one of our meetings. Be sure to have your piece there or accessible at school for the submission date.

As I am sure quite a few of you are dying to hear, we made a profit of $122.31 for our bake sale.

So far, I think the current plans (as to what to do with the money) are to buy three(?) new books for the library; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and the Tales of Beedle the Bard. This purchase should come to a total of $34.14 if my estimates are correct. The rest of the money will go into our savings. If all members are in agreement with this, then that is how we shall proceed. Comment below if desired.

Next week will be a review week for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We will discuss all events of the book, do a fun activity, and conduct a census. Bringing food in would be nice (as not only will it be the review week, but spirit week as well). The meeting date has not yet been set, nor have points been given out for bake sale participants, but both these things are in the works.

This week, as for the poster situation, we will be updating/reusing our favourite posters from past Philosopher’s Stone weeks. The top posters voted by you guys will be printed and put up around the school. As with before, you can find the poster designs on my photobucket account. Please cite the posters you like best in the comments below, preferably before Sunday evening when I will be printing the winners. The link to the album is as follows: . It should work.

Note about the Bake Sale

So, guys, just so you remember – please check over the bake sale info (you can find this on the last few previous posts) and MAKE AS MANY POSTERS AS YOU CAN FOR TOMORROW ANNOUNCING THE BAKE SALE. Info for the posters just includes the date/location (Wednesday October 26, 2011 @ lunch in the Great Hall), the name of our club (the Harry Potter Club) and the words “Bake Sale”. For all else, please be creative. Posters Anne and I see will win points accordingly.

Another Points Promotion

Remember to make a post on the forum by Thursday at 11:30 pm in order to gain an extra point. We may give out extra points for additional posts as necessary.

Later, your ranking on the forum (ex. Muggle, Squib) may earn you extra points at various cash in times (ex. like when we finish a book). This is not confirmed yet.
